Colin Winterbottom
Colin Winterbottom's acute sensitivity to the emotional energies
inherent in urban landscape has yielded a remarkable and respected
series of photographs of Washington DC. His photographs match the
drama and power of the world's most important capital city. His most
recent efforts have looked beyond landmarks to the city's
neighborhoods and it's infrastructure to build a visual union of
symbol, structure, and substance. His driving interest in lively
texture has also yielded an exciting, emerging series he calls
"elegant corrosion," his first series in color.
Colin's photographs are available in a variety of sizes, but he prefers to print his images at sizes large enough to bring out the film-grain, which add a classic and essential texture to his work. He especially likes 20x30 or 24x36 for his rectangular images; panoramics at 60 - 70 inches long; and square images from 20x20 to 30x30 and larger.
