Chris Zidek
I aim for adroit elegance in my work and believe craftsmanship to be a moral obligation. This body of work demonstrates careful attention to surface and light reflectivity, while maintaining a balanced curvilinear geometry. Within these low-relief works, surface, dimension, and a sense of depth emerge from an ongoing dialogue between digital design, machine processes, and human craftsmanship. I employ contemporary techniques in painting and sculpting, including complex automotive coatings
and a range of materials such as plastic, wood, high-density foam, and composites. Ultimately, I intend these works not as objects of interest, but as objects of desire.
Chris is currently living in Nashville as a woodworker and fine artist. He explores new material technologies in conjunction with machinery to develop a body of work that bridges Art Nouveau and Post Graffitism. His clients include Google, Nissan, Microsoft, Vuse, Keep a Breast Foundation, Hutton Hotel, and the Ad Council. His mural work has been featured in Forbes, Huffington Post, Surface, Brooklyn Street Art, and other street art publications.
